One year after being launched: "Mercedes me" with a host of new services

Mar 3, 2015
"One stop. All me". This is the slogan under which Mercedes-Benz is continuously expanding the range of Mercedes me services. From June 2015, Mercedes-Benz customers can go to Mercedes connect me to access additional online connectivity services – such as using their smartphone to locate the whereabouts of their vehicle, to lock the doors, to program the pre-entry climate control or to configure Mercedes-Benz apps. The extended scope of Mercedes inspire me ranges from customisable Mercedes me TV to a personalised event and news portal to a community as well as a fan page for racing fans. Launched one year ago, Mercedes me offers personalised access to the world of Mercedes-Benz.
"One year ago, with 'Mercedes me' we created a new, digital ecosystem that intelligently merges our products and services within a brand network. Our goal was to provide our customers and prospective customers with personalised, attractive and convenient access to the world of Mercedes-Benz," says Dr Jens Thiemer, Head of Marketing Communications for Mercedes-Benz Cars. "Already today, we can say that our initiative is paying off. The number of lifestyle offerings and services available on Mercedes me is constantly increasing, which is reflected in a growing community of users."
Networked with the community, connected with the vehicle
More and more people are living their lives permanently online, being constantly available and optimally networked. Mercedes-Benz is catering for this global trend with Mercedes me. At customers and prospective customers can now not only discuss present and future trends, products and services together with other fans, customers and Mercedes-Benz employees, but they can also receive specific answers to their questions. For members of the around 80 official Mercedes-Benz brand clubs there is also the Club Community, which allows members to network with each other as well as with experts.
Mercedes-Benz also offers new products and services for ever closer links between vehicle and driver. In addition to the already existing basic services such as Accident Recovery, Maintenance Management and Breakdown Management as well as Telediagnosis and E-call, further optional remote online services are now available. New services from June 2015 include remote door locking and unlocking, configuration of Mercedes-Benz apps, geographic vehicle monitoring and additional services for electric vehicles. These include searching for a charging station, programming the pre-entry climate control and route planning with display of the electric range. This networked technology is already available today in the B-, C- and S-Class as well as in CLA, CLS and CLS Shooting Brake models. This year sees the addition of the A-Class, E-Class, CLA Shooting Brake as well as the SUV models GLA and GLE. By March 2015 Mercedes connect me will be available in 15 European countries.
Customisable viewing with Mercedes me TV
One of the highlights of the new lifestyle and infotainment offerings is Mercedes me TV. The interactive offering of moving-image content will launch in March 2015 on all new LG smart TV sets. Mercedes me TV brings films and videos from the world of Mercedes-Benz to the big screen – quickly, customisable and sometimes in 4K quality. Videos, galleries, news, events, new/used vehicles or mixed tape music – if desired, these functions can be individually filtered and thus adapted to suit the customer's own interests. Mercedes-Benz is the first automotive brand to offer such a wide TV offering, thereby setting the standard in terms of modern digital communications. The global market for smart TVs will grow to around one billion devices by 2018.
Fascination and inspiration beyond the automobile
Customers are interested not just in needs-based mobility, connectivity and financing services, but increasingly also in lifestyle-oriented services. Mercedes-Benz is catering for this trend with numerous new offerings. In future, for example, "My Events" will provide Mercedes me users with access to Mercedes-Benz's international events portal, where they can compose their own selection of events, sync them with their own calendar and book to take part in selected events. The new service "My Guide" helps with travel planning. It offers attractive routes and points of interest, information on hotels, restaurants, shopping opportunities and cultural offerings. Anyone can browse online, share items of interest with friends on social networks or upload their own images and contributions. Tips and routes are available to download for use in the vehicle.
Up-to-the-minute information from the world of Mercedes-Benz can be accessed at "My News". "My Media Center" and the Mercedes me Newsletter provide users with a comprehensive information offering tailored to their personal interests. Fans of motor sports can go to "My Race Hub" for a personalised "Race Experience" with a host of infotainment and interactive elements. An exclusive information service to enrich the TV picture as well as interactive votings and a prize competition transport users to the fascinating world of motor sports. The range of innovations is rounded off by a personal screensaver for download with visual worlds and news on motor sports, lifestyle and Mercedes me as well as exclusive downloads of Mercedes-Benz mixed tapes.
