Lauda Drive:The road that runs through the heart of the Brackley Technology Campus was officially renamed 'Lauda Drive' on Tuesday 29 November. The renaming in honour of the three-time Formula One World Champion and former Non-Executive Chairman of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team was done with the approval of the local authorities and Niki's family. Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff unveiled the new road sign in front of the assembled team members. "It's a true honour to unveil Lauda Drive and it was great to see so many team members gather to watch the reveal," said Toto. "While our dear friend and colleague Niki wouldn't have wanted us to make a fuss, he would also be proud to have this road named after him. It was a privilege for all of us to work alongside him and I was lucky enough to call him one of my best friends. He was a massive contributor to our success, a great sparring partner for me and a strong non-executive chairman, who we miss dearly. I wish he was still here as my friend and as a chairman, because there would have been many questions I'd have liked to ask him this year. His legacy lives on in so many shapes and forms, but to know so many people will pass down Lauda Drive in the years to come is very special."

Super Taikyu ends with championship runner-up spot and a class win:On the final weekend of the 2022 Japanese Super Taikyu Series in Suzuka, Grid Motorsport became ST-X championship runners-up. Martin Berry (AUS), Shinichi Takagi (JPN), Shaun Thong (HKG) and Daisuke Yamawaki (JPN) in the number 888 Mercedes-AMG GT3 started the final five-hour race of this popular series from fifth on the grid. Due to their previous successes, the team had to take an additional ballast of 80kg into the last race of the season. This handicap effectively ruled the driver quartet out of contention for the race victory, and they eventually had to settle for fourth. As a result, Grid Motorsport ended the 2022 season in second place overall. Daisuke Matsunaga, Yuja Motoshima and Yuki Nakayama (all JPN) of Team TKRI were meanwhile delighted with a podium finish. The trio sharing the cockpit of the number 23 Mercedes-AMG GT3 finished third in the final race of the year. In the ST-Q class for alternative fuels, ENDLESS SPORTS once again blew away the opposition as Shintaro Kawabata, Ryo Ogawa, Togo Suganami, Riki Tanioka (all JPN) in the number 3 Mercedes-AMG GT4 secured yet another comfortable class victory to round off a highly commendable campaign.

Successful season finale in Spain:The 2022 Campeonato de España Resistencia de GT (CER-GT) also held its season finale last weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. NM Racing were making a guest appearance in the last two-hour race on this year's calendar, and their driver trio of Jesús Alberto De Martin Muñoz and Nil Montserrat Simó (both ESP) in the number 108 Mercedes-AMG GT4 took first place in class and fourth overall.
